GEYSER

Hydrothermal eruptions that occur when there is a large amount of very hot water underground. The hot water transitions to steam and periodically rises to the surface, where it is expelled rather explosively. The water is typically erupted at regular intervals with powerful jets. The duration of these jets can vary from a few seconds to several minutes and can reach heights of up to 60 meters.
These are rare events worldwide but can be found in Iceland, in Yellowstone National Park (United States), in New Zealand, and in Chile.
