The IRGIE project (Inventory of Geothermal Resources of the Aeolian Islands) studies the geothermal potential of the Aeolian archipelago to promote sustainable energy autonomy. It characterizes existing geothermal systems, quantifies their potential, and proposes technological solutions integrated with other renewable sources.

Funded by the Department of Energy of the Sicilian Region, it represents a collaboration between the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) and the Sicilian Region, involving research institutions, universities, and associations to develop an ecological and independent energy model.
